CODE OF ETHICS

1.1 This Code has been compiled by the Director of the MindBodyFood Institute and relates to the standards of practice for all graduates holding certification with the MindBodyFood Institute.

1.2 This Code of Ethics is the professional base standard expected of all graduates to preserve and enhance the reputation of the MindBodyFood Institute, its members, and best serve the public at large.

1.3 The Director of the MindBodyFood Institute reserves the right to amend the Code of Ethics as and when it is deemed necessary. Should such be the case, all the MindBodyFood Institute graduates will be informed of these changes.

Propriety

1.1 Client, student and public welfare shall take priority over self-interest of members, employees and colleagues.

2.2 Confidentiality of client information must be observed at all times. In any case where client information is shared there must first be consent from the client or the client’s legal guardian. Legal and contractual limits must be made clear to clients where appropriate.

2.3 The MindBodyFood Institute graduates shall not behave in any manner that may bring the MindBodyFood Institute or its graduates profession into disrepute.

2.4 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates will, at all times, maintain ethical standards and show politeness and consideration to their clients and conduct themselves professionally so as to comply with the generally accepted standards of moral behaviour and decency.

2.5 Should anyMindBodyFood Institute graduate be found to have transgressed any of the said Code of Ethics, their Holistic Coaching or Practitioner membership shall be revoked, and they will no longer be permitted to work in association with the MindBodyFood Institute

Competence

3.1 In no way will any MindBodyFood Institute graduate misrepresent their level of training, expertise, experience, or qualification.

3.2 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates must display their current MindBodyFood Institute holistic coaching and practitioner certificate/s at all times while operating their business.

Client confidentiality

4.1 Coaching, consulting and evaluative information must be kept confidential and may only be communicated for professional purposes and only with the consent of the client or as may be required by law.

4.2 If client records are kept by the practitioner, these shall be stored and disposed of in a confidential manner.

4.3 When clients are unable to give informed consent due to age, medical condition, psychological state etc, consent will be obtained by a legal guardian.

4.4 Minors (16 years and under) must be accompanied for private sessions by a parent or guardian or written permission for such treatment must be obtained by a parent or guardian.

4.5 Graduates working with minors must obtain the relevant legal clearance deemed necessary in their own home state or country.

4.6 Where the life or safety of any person is in danger, graduates have a duty of care to share any relevant information with the appropriate authorities and should make clients aware prior to any consultation that they are bound to do so.

Client relationship

5.1 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates shall respect the client’s physical/emotional state, and shall not abuse clients through actions, words or silence, nor take advantage of the coaching, therapeutic or behavioural change relationship.

5.2 MindBodyFood Institute graduates shall in no way participate in sexual activity with a client.

5.3 In the event that a MindBodyFood Institute graduate and consulting client should wish to participate in an intimate sexual relationship, any professional services must be terminated and the client be referred to another coach or practitioner.

5.4 Advance financial arrangements must be made that are understood by clients that safeguard the client’s interests. All fee structures, cancellation penalties (if any) and other relevant information or conditions must be clearly displayed by the coach or practitioner.

Professional conduct

6.1 In the event of a dispute arising between fellow MindBodyFood Institute graduates, coaches or practitioners, the said graduates shall make every attempt to resolve differences. Where differences cannot be cleared the said graduates may seek mediation through their Business Mentors at the MindBodyFood Institute in the first instance.

6.2 In no way shall a MindBodyFood Institute student or graduate disparage, nor publicly criticise another MindBodyFood Institute graduate.

6.3 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates shall endeavour to obtain and maintain Public Liability Insurance within six months of becoming a coach or practitioner, otherwise shall not practice until such insurance is obtained.

6.3 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates shall endeavour to obtain and maintain a first aid certificate within six months of becoming a practitioner, if required legally in their home state or country.

Advertising

7.1 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates who are registered as coaches or practitioners are permitted to advertise their services as being certified with MindBodyFood Institute their supplied certification logo, so long as they continue to uphold the standards outlined herein.

7.2 All MindBodyFood Institute graduates are permitted to make changes to supplied coaching templates where ‘Your Logo Goes Here’ is included on Word documents. No copyrighted material in PDF may be used or reproduced without written permission.
